The rice ration for breakfast and mid-day meals was fairly good. As we had no bread for the evening meal we got two bowls of pap. This is made up with flour and water in the same consistency as the mixture for making pancakes, but two bowls were as much as I could manage.
There is a very interesting rumour, coming from two sources, that Russia declared war on Japan yesterday. There may be something in it as the Staff have been damnable these last couple of days.
There are a few other small rumours to the effect that the Camp Staff get changed on the 15th.
Rice issue stops for everybody, civilians included, on the 15th and all go on bread and potatoes.
On the 8th the most spectacular bombing ever made was carried out by us, every town and city of note throughout Japan being visited, leaflets were also supposed to have been dropped calling upon the people to urge the Government to give in as the invasion was imminent.
There were a few more but I guess these will do to see if any are confirmed.
