Plenty of wailers on the go last night but heard nothing more.
Had quite a good muck about for breakfast consisting of a balance of broken pieces of chocolate, jam, 80 packets of sugar and all the raisins and prunes cooked up with the rice, but there was no vegetable stew, so what we gain on the swings we lose on the roundabouts.
From what one hears the average drop in weight amongst the Officers is round about 3 Kilos or just over 6 1/2 lbs
Demands in for Red + stores since the 28th of last month by the Commander and the Interpreter have been very moderate and amount to 1 tin coffee, 2 tins milk, 3 packets cigarettes, 5 packets chocolate, 5 packets sugar, 1 tin salmon and 2 packets of raisins.
Some interesting and encouraging rumours are circulating this morning and one can only hope that there is something in them, they are:
The Camp Commander is leaving in 3 days.
The 1,000 odd parcels of tinned meats etc, supposed to be held as emergency reserve, are to be eaten up by the 17th as they have already been reported as having been issued.
1, 000 fresh parcels (1, 600 individual parcels) are expected shortly.
And lastly, we have taken Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tong King.
The Wing Commander complained the other day about the shortage of food and he has now been told that owing to the present critical stage of the war, complaints should not be made regarding food, but, it is expected that an improvement will be made in a few days.
