Seven bags of sugar are alleged to have arrived in the Camp before Reveille this morning, this may be the reply of the Commander who said he may be able to get some sugar, when asked that an increase in food could be made. The sugar has now turned out to be one bag and six bags of beans, which, from a food value are better for us than the sugar, we shall certainly get more out of them.

Another poor chap has died, rather hard luck especially at this period. His name was Wheeler and he belonged to the R.A. He was one of the party that came to Shirakawa from Thailand and was covered in sores and was in hospital for a considerable time.

A pig has been killed for tomorrow. It is a small one but the Commander has promised that we shall have the whole of it instead of a goodly portion being taken by the Japanese as happened last time.

The latest rumour alleged to have come from the Sgt Major is to the effect that he has been to Fukuoka Hdqrs and he will now be leaving in two days but the sick will not be going with us and he will be conducting the party.
