Yasume day. It is simply amazing that we never get a clear day of rest. There is room inspection at 9 o/c and inoculation commences at 10 o/c.
Roll Call was dispensed with this morning but only when on our way to fall in. No Roll Call tonight owing to the possibility of having fever from the inoculation.
There was an air raid during the night in the direction of MOJI and, by all accounts, some pretty heavy stuff was dropped, but all I heard was the yellow warning. Hope they got a real good pasting like OSAKA.
Issued with 40 Japanese cigarettes this morning, got a raisin loaf and coffee with sugar for midday meal. Also got packet American cigarettes and a packet of chocolate. Had quite a tasty stew for the evening meal to wind up the day.
Referring to the Red+ the Dutch interpreter asked the Japanese interpreter to hold up his demands for Red+ as the British knew what stocks there were and had appointed a representation to watch issues and that according to instructions they had to render a report to their Government as to how distributions were made, and, under the circumstances he was rather awkwardly placed and it would be better for him to take what he wanted from the main stock instead of making demands. His reply was: you will not be getting any more of that stock but you will be getting other parcels that are expected. The inference from this is that the present stock bas been issued officially to us, on paper, and that the Japanese have confiscated the main stock for their own use and that in the meantime they have applied for fresh stock.
